On December 3, 2024, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage listed “Tomyum Kung” on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This recognition highlights the global significance of Tomyum Kung (Thai Style Shrimp Soup) as a symbol of Thailand’s culinary wisdom, celebrated for its unique balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors enriched by the use of exquisite herbs.
