RTCG_Fukuoka_BD

The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Fukuoka commenced its operations in 2018. During its inaugural year, it operated from a temporary office near Hakata Station before relocating to its current premises in the Tenjin district. It stands as Thailand’s third diplomatic mission in Japan, following the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo and the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Osaka. The Consulate-General's consular jurisdiction covers 13 prefectures across the Kyushu region (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima), the Chugoku region (Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima Yamaguchi) and Okinawa.

The Consulate-General has two primary missions:

1. Promoting Bilateral Relations and Cooperation: Fostering ties in all dimensions, among others, culture, education, economy, trade, investment, and tourism, between Thailand and the 13 aforementioned prefectures. This is achieved through collaboration with government agencies, the private sector, academic institutions, and people-to-people exchanges. Also, the Consulate-General works closely with “Team Thailand in Fukuoka”, a network of Thai government agencies in Japan, including those in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Fukuoka Office and the Thai Trade Representative in Hiroshima.

2. Consular Services and Citizen Protection: Providing documentation and civil registration services to approximately 5,000 Thai nationals residing within the consular jurisdiction (representing about 8% of the Thai nationals residing in Japan). The Consulate-General also renders emergency assistance and protection to Thai citizens, as well as providing visa services for Japanese nationals and foreign citizens residing in the 13 aforementioned prefectures.
