Purpose of entry |
● For those who stay in Thai airport for more than 12 hours for transit purpose, or enter Thailand (going through immigration and checking in) even for transit purpose.
***Please kindly check the airlines if your connecting flight have to go through immigration procedures or not. Those eligible for Tourist Visa Exemption do not need Transit Visa either. |
Notice |
● Employment in Thailand is prohibited ● Applicant must enter Thailand on the date specified in the airline ticket or ticket reservation confirmation ● Upon arrival to Thailand, the period of stay is granted by an immigration officer in accordance with the type of visa. Travelers who wish to stay longer than the granted period must file an application for permission of extension of stay at offices of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand. The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer in Thailand ● In case that visa application is rejected, the visa fee will not be refunded and the submitted documents will not be returned to the applicant ● The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Fukuoka reserves the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary and reserves the right to reject an application without providing any reasons ● Fraud or misrepresentation can result in permanent visa ineligibility ● The following required documents are subject to change without prior notice |
<Required Documents>
1. Passport and a copy of passport photo page
● Passport with validity not less than 6 months
● At least 2 blank pages left
2. Visa Application Form and Photograph (Colour photograph Size 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm which taken within the last 3 months)
● Completely filled out and signed as the same as the applicant's passport signature
● The number of required documents is depending on the applicant's nationality. Please check the additional required documents for Non-Japanese applicants
3. One original bank statement of the applicant in English language
● The bank statement must contain the amount equivalent to at least 20,000 Baht per person
● In case of applicant under the age of 20 years who do not have a bank account of their own, must provide a bank statement of either the father or the mother with the amount equivalent to at least 40,000 Baht per family, and must provide one original family registration certificate in Japan (KOSEKITOHON) issued within the last 3 months
● Please note that a copy of bank book is not acceptable
4. For the applicant who wishes to enter Thailand during their transit, please provide the evidence of accommodations for the entire duration of stay in Thailand
(one of the following documents from 4.1-4.4 is required)
4.1 Hotel reservation
4.2 Copy of the applicant’s own evidence for condominium / apartment / house
4.3 In case of renting condominium / apartment / house, a copy of the lease agreement and landlord's Identification Card (ID Card) is required
4.4 In case of staying with friend or family, the following documents from A-D is required
A. Invitation Letter from friend or family (including name of the writer, relationship with the applicant, address for staying, length of stay, contact, and signature of the writer)
B. In case of owning or renting condominium / apartment / house, a copy of the applicant’s own evidence or the lease agreement
C. One copy of Identification Card (ID Card) of friend or family
• In case of Thai national, must submit a copy of ID card and House Registration which include address and name
• In case of foreigner, must submit a copy of passport (photo page and valid visa pages) and, in case of foreigner legally working in Thailand, must also submit a copy of valid work permit
D. Official documents proving family relationship
• For Japanese national, must submit one original family registration certificate of Japan (KOSEKITOHON) issued within 3 months
• For foreigners, must submit one copy of Registration of Marriage with English translation or Birth Certificate with English translation
5. Occupation’s documents
5.1 For company employee, one original certificate of employment, certificate of leave and one original copy of company’s registration (TOKIBOTOHON) are required
5.2 For self-employment, one original company’s registration (TOKIBOTOHON) is required
5.3 For student, one original certificate of enrollment issued by the academic institute in Japan is required
5.4 For pensioner, one original certificate of pensioner’s fund stating an amount of pension received is required
5.5 For housewife / househusband
● Japanese applicant is required to submit one original family registration certificate of Japan (KOSEKITOHON) issued within 3 months and one copy of photo-page passport
● Non Japanese applicant with Japanese spouse is required to submit one original of the spouse’s family registration certification of Japan (KOSEKITOHON) issued within 3 months and one copy of photo-page passport
● Non Japanese applicant with non Japanese spouse is required to submit one copy of registration of marriage with English translation or birth certificate with English translation
5.6 For applicants under 20 years old, one original guarantee letter and a copy of guarantor's passport or driving license duly signed by the guarantor are required
Guarantee Letter (Form as above link) ● A guarantor must be twenty (20) years of age or older, must be able to confirm the applicant's personal attributes. A guarantor must be available to be contacted by the Consulate-General and must not be a person who will accompany the applicant to Thailand ● A guarantor who are not Japanese national must provide a copy of passport and residence card (legally residing in Japan) ● A guarantor must sign as the same as the guarantor's identification document signature ● Japanese guarantor who prefers to use driver license, please sign as the same as signature in the guarantor letter on the copy of driver license |
5.7 For unemployment,
1) One original certificate of personal income tax / original certificate of personal income tax exemption or similar document.
2) One original guarantee letter must be presented together with a copy of guarantor's passport or driving license duly signed by the guarantor.
*A guarantor must be twenty (20) years of age or older and a permanent resident legally residing in Japan. A guarantor must not accompany the applicant to Thailand, while must be able to confirm applicant's personal attributes and information such as name, age, occupation, address, physical information, etc. and available to be contacted by the Embassy.
6. Airline ticket paid in full or flight booking confirmation
● Must be issued by airline or travel company and must contain the applicant's name, flight number and date arrival
