Non-immigrant ED Visa
For Students enrolling at Private Schools in Thailand

Purpose of stay |
● For students to enrol at formal educational institutions (elementary schools, junior schools, high schools) approved by Thai Authorities, such as Ministry of Education of Thailand |
Notice |
● Applicant must enter Thailand on the date specified in the airline ticket or ticket reservation confirmation ● Upon arrival to Thailand, the period of stay is granted by an immigration officer in accordance with the type of visa; travelers who wish to stay longer than the granted period must file an application for permission of extension of stay at offices of the Immigration Bureau of Thailand; the extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer in Thailand ● In case that visa application is rejected, the visa fee will not be refunded and the submitted documents will not be returned to the applicant ● The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Fukuoka reserves the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary and reserves the right to reject an application without providing any reasons ● Fraud or misrepresentation can result in permanent visa ineligibility ● The following required documents are subject to change without prior notice |
<Required Documents>
1. Passport and a copy of passport photo page
● Passport with validity not less than 6 months
● At least 2 blank pages left
2. Visa Application Form and Colour Photograph (Size 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm which taken within the last 3 months)
● Completely filled out and signed as the same as the applicant's passport signature
● The number of required documents is depending on the applicant's nationality. Please check the additional required documents for Non-Japanese applicants
3. Original Invitation Letter issued by educational institution, school, or university in Thailand written in English
● Must have the letter head of educational institution, school or university in Thailand
● Must address to “Royal Thai Consulate-General, Fukuoka”
● Must contain the applicant's name / purpose of visit / date of entry / length of stay and type of visa
● Must have the official seal of educational institution, school, or university in Thailand
● Must include the signature of President or the authorized person who is appointed by the President to sign an invitation letter for visa application, and the specimen signature (sample of signature) must be informed to the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand (electronic signature is not acceptable)
● For student to enrol at international school, must submit a copy of the School Establishment License or Permit issued by the Ministry of Education of Thailand
4. Original Recommendation Letter issued by educational institution, school, or university in Japan written in English
● Must have the letter head of educational institution, school or university
● Must address to “Royal Thai Consulate-General, Fukuoka”
● Must contain the applicant's name / purpose of visit / date of entry / length of stay and type of visa
● Must have the official seal of educational institution, school, or university in Japan
● Must include the signature of President or the authorized person (electronic signature is not acceptable)
※ In case that the Recommendation Letter from educational institution, school, or university in Japan cannot be shown, an original Guarantee Letter must be presented together with a copy of guarantor's passport or driving license duly signed by the guarantor

5. Approval Letter issued by the Office of Private Education Commission of Thailand (OPEC)
● Must be an original Approval Letter written in English (PDF or fax copy is not acceptable)
● For students enrolling in international schools/universities or graduate students in which those schools/universities have already registered with the Office of Private Education Commission of Thailand (OPEC), it is not necessary to show an approval letter
● Must contain applicant’s name and type of visa
6. Applicants under 20 years old are required following documents
(1) Original guarantee letter from parents or guardians, attached by a copy of guarantor's passport or driving license or ID card duly signed by the guarantor.
(2) Official documents proving family relationship with appliants
(2.1) For Japanese applicants, an original Household Registration (KOSEKITOHON) issued within 3 months
(2.2) For Non-Japanese applicants, a copy of birth certificate of your country with English translation

7. Airline ticket paid in full or flight booking confirmation
● Must be issued by airline or travel company and must contain the applicant's name, flight number and date arrival

8. One copy of residence card (Please present the original document of identification on application date)
